The Department of Anthropology at the University of South Florida (USF), Tampa, seeks a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor to begin August, 2010.
Areas of interest should complement existing departmental strengths and might include one or more of the following: urban anthropology, the anthropology of inequality, social justice studies, health disparities, socio-linguistics and power relations, development studies, and innovative ethnographic methods. Geographic area is open. Candidates must be committed to a four-field anthropology and hold a Ph.D. in Anthropology. Interdisciplinary research experience is desirable. Candidates must be prepared to teach undergraduate and graduate courses required by the department; develop courses within their own specialization, and mentor M.A. and Ph.D. students.
Applicants should provide evidence of teaching competence, graduate student mentoring, and research success, such as external funding and publications. Successful candidates will be expected to pursue external research funding. The Department of Anthropology offers M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in applied anthropology, a dual degree in anthropology and public health, and a concentration in biocultural medical anthropology.

The Department of Anthropology at the University of South Florida is seeking an Instructional Postdoctoral Scholar.
The successful candidate will have research interests in anthropological approaches to communities (past or present). More specific research themes of relevance include community-related health, development, and sustainability, as well as the intersection of these topics with issues of social justice, ethnicity, race, and class. We are especially interested in applicants with the ability to teach one or more of the following graduate-level courses: quantitative methods, archaeological research methods, ethnohistorical research methods, ethnographic and applied research methods. The ability to teach courses training graduate students in other innovative methods is a plus, as is the ability to incorporate service learning and community engagement. The position will start August 2010 and extend through May 2012.
Applicants must have the doctorate in hand by time of appointment, with the Ph.D. awarded no earlier than 2007 and no later than January, 2010. Preference will be granted for the Ph.D. in Anthropology; candidates with degrees in other disciplines should demonstrate their familiarity with anthropological approaches. The Scholar will teach two courses per semester. Fellow.
The
successful
candidate
will
have
research
interests
in
the
broad
area
of
education
and
learning,
encompassing
work
with
youth
in
informal
and
non-school
settings
(including
museums),
and
community
development
efforts
involving
youth,
whether
in
the
U.S.
or
abroad.
Candidates
working
in
the
application
of
archaeology
or
cultural
heritage
in
educational
settings
are
also
encouraged
to

The
position
will
start
January
2010,
extending
through
July
2011.
