Biocultural anthropology, food insecurity, nutrition, health, stress, migration, resistance, resilience, race and ethnicity, global food security, sustainable food systems, Ethiopia, Finland. I situate my dissertation research in the intersection of cultural, biological, medical, and nutritional anthropology. I am particularly interested in how and why food insecurity and health outcomes differ among two migrant groups in Florida, U.S.

Besides my upcoming dissertation research, I am currently working on:

• a research project identifying barriers to the utilization of produce among food pantry clients in the Tampa Bay Area

• a study focusing on the linkages between food insecurity, social isolation, and loneliness among an older adult population in the Tampa Bay Area

Prior to beginning my studies at USF, I have completed field research in the Amhara region in Ethiopia as part of my monitoring and evaluation responsibilities in the Agro-BIG (Agro-Business Induced Growth Programme) in 2013-2015.
