Teaching

Exploring Race in American Culture examines race, human variation and racism in US society.  I have taught cultural anthropology and am teaching government and world affairs, and global issues.  Additional teaching interests include applied anthropology, medical anthropology, environment and anthropology, maritime anthropology, and community studies.

Research

My research has focused on race and human variation; museums and public education; health; government and public policy; US Congress; environment and coastal communities, fisheries and natural resource management; middle class working families; human rights; and ethics.  Geographical areas include the United States and Latin America.
