" SPEED - "_SPEED_ provides a forum for the critical investigation of technology, media, and society. Our intention is to contribute toward a democratic discourse of technology and media, one that is always focused upon the material conditions of life that technologies and media constitute and demand, and yet does not lose sight of the power of ideas to change those conditions. We feel that as media of various kinds become more ubiquitous, what it means to live with and talk about a "medium" changes and expands, and so do the critical vocabularies of interpreting what those transformations indicate. Our primary goal in that effort is to foster a cross-fertilization of ideas between communities of people in the "academy" and "industry" too often separated, not by interest or common concern, but by artificially imposed disciplinary and organizational boundaries. We think that _SPEED_ is a promising step toward making these institutional boundaries more permeable, and a critical politics of "mediated sociality" more powerful." Techné: Research in Philosophy and Technology - "Though papers are thus, as with other journals, rigorously refereed, there may be one aspect of the Society's publications that differs from at least some professional journals. SPT has no party line or narrow focus; papers, from the beginning, have been welcomed from any and all philosophical perspectives; the only unifying factor is a focus on technology, particular technologies, modern or traditional, or social problems associated with technology in any era--though most of our authors concentrate on the modern world. Some papers criticize our contemporary technological culture in global terms; others critique particular technologies; but just as many analyze technological phenomena with no a priori critical or negative bias. All that the editorial board insists upon is rigorous philosophical analysis, from whatever philosophical perspective the author chooses. In addition, contributions are welcome from authors who are not identified as academic philosophers--from social scientists, engineers, managers of scientific or technological organizations or institutions, for example--as long as their work meets the standards of some philosophical perspective." TEXTOS de la CiberSociedad - "El Observatorio para la CiberSociedad es un espacio para la reflexión, la documentación, el análisis y la discusión del ciberespacio y lo cibersocial desde las perspectivas de las ciencias humanas y sociales" Technology and Culture - "Technology and Culture is the preeminent journal for the history of technology.
