Arland Nguema Ndong is a doctoral student in the Department of Anthropology at the University of South Florida. He graduated from Université Omar Bongo (Gabon) with a B.A. in English and from Université Paris VIII (France) with a M.A. in U.S. History and Civilization. Mr. Nguema Ndong works as a graduate research assistant with the Alliance for Applied Research in Education and Anthropology (AAREA) on the STEP Project, a NSF-funded research project that investigates program culture and other organizational conditions that promote the successful completion of undergraduate degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) by undergraduates, specifically focusing on underrepresented populations, such as women and minority group members. His research interests include but are not limited to racial dynamics in higher education, evaluation studies as well as theories and processes of educational race-based and race-neutral policies such as Affirmative Action and One Florida.
